Protesters gathered on Melikishvili Avenue in central Tbilisi as part of the opposition-led rally against recent general election results temporarily dispersed on Wednesday to reassess their strategy.
Zura Japaridze, leader of the Coalition for Change, announced the decision, stating that the opposition would “replan” and present a new action plan soon.
“The police have allowed us to block Melikishvili Avenue, so this location no longer creates any discomfort for them,” Japaridze said.
“For us, this action has lost its purpose. We need to think of another location or form of protest that would have a greater impact. Likely, a decision will be made later this evening.”
The protest is part of broader opposition efforts challenging the results of the October 26 parliamentary elections, which they allege were rigged.
