The Strong Georgia coalition has announced a strategy to delegitimize Georgia’s newly elected parliament, claiming the results of the October 26 elections were marred by systemic fraud.
Levan Samushia, one of the coalition’s leaders, detailed the plan on Thursday, stating it includes removing the lists of opposition parties that crossed the electoral threshold and boycotting the legislature.
“The plan of Strong Georgia is that, as a result of these frauds and taking away of votes, the lists of the opposition parties that crossed the barrier will be removed, and the parliament will not be allowed to function,” Samushia said.
He emphasized the coalition’s commitment to engaging with Western partners to share information about the alleged violations. “Our goal is to communicate with our Western partners as much as possible, to provide information as much as possible,” Samushia explained.
As part of their efforts, Strong Georgia plans to establish a “people’s parliament” composed of opposition parties that surpassed the electoral threshold. This alternative platform, Samushia said, would focus on discussions, international engagement, and addressing critical national issues.
