Georgia on peak of Omicron infections

Georgia has reached the peak of Omicron infections. Health authorities do not know when the country will pass the peak, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Ganunia stated earlier today.

She said that the decrease in new infections will be dependent on how the public observes general guidelines.

Georgia has reported 25,161 new cases of coronavirus out of 72,587 tests in the past 24 hours, while 219,007 remain infected mostly with the Omicron strain of the virus in the country as of now.

Gabunia says that many in the medical personnel remain infected with the new strain. However, they continue to serve Coronavirus patients online or via phones.

Only a bit more than 6,000 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while others are at home.
