Georgia reports increased, 1,058 cases of Covid, in one week

Between June 20  and 26, Georgia has confirmed 1,058 new cases of coronavirus and two deaths, while earlier an average weekly data stood at 500-600. 

 

Georgia's National Centre for Disease Control said on Tuesday that  646 individuals recovered from the virus in the reported period. 

 

A total of 63,404 tests were conducted across the country last week, including 57,457 rapid and 5,847 PCR tests.

 

According to the data for seven days, the positivity rate was 1.67%.

 

“B.A.2 strain of Omicron is predominantly circulating in Georgia,” NCDC suggested. 

 

Since February 26, 2020, when the first case of coronavirus infection was confirmed in Georgia, 1,660,429 cases have been registered by testing. 

 

16, 841 people  have died from COVID-19 in Georgia since April 2020.
