De facto Tkhinvali hands drones to volunteers fighting against Ukraine

The de facto president of Georgia’s currently Russian-controlled Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, Alan Gagloev, has delivered quadcopters to Ossetian volunteers fighting against Ukraine, fulfilling a request made by the fighters themselves, local news agency REC reported.

The volunteers sought quadcopters for tactical purposes, and Tskhinvali acknowledged and fulfilled their request, the agency added.

Approximately 12,000 Ossetians are currently fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine, with more than 1,000 from the Georgian region. The conflict has already claimed the lives of 40 volunteers from Tskhinvali.

The de facto authorities claim the Russia-Ukraine war also concerns them,  asserting if Moscow retreats into Ukraine, the “situation of both North and South Ossetia, will not be enviable”.
