Sticking with EU will lower influence of Russia - opposition MP

Khatia Dekanoidze, opposition MP, stated on Monday that the subject of Russia’s interest is Georgia, and the threat of interference in the elections is real. She then continued that those who want "the development of this country and democracy” should support “the end of one-party rule” and, in general, “the end of one-person rule" She further noted that a coalition is "balance”, therefore Georgia should be “close to the EU” in order to lower the influence of Russia within the country.

Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia, stated that it is “easy” for Russian services to intervene in Georgia, as it is a “known” ground for them.

She noted that we will face the threat of Russian intervention this year because parliamentary elections are held in October.
