Search resumes for skier trapped in Bakuriani avalanche

In Bakuriani, the search-and-rescue operation resumed at dawn for an individual trapped in an avalanche. Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate the missing person, whose condition remains unknown.

Search teams, comprising both ground personnel and helicopters, are engaged in the rescue mission.

Local residents have highlighted the challenging and remote terrain, adding complexity to the search efforts.

"Despite the relentless efforts of rescuers, the individual remains buried under a significant mass of snow. The depth of the snow is estimated to be up to 5-6 meters, rendering the area inaccessible even to helicopters. Accessing the location on foot is also proving exceedingly difficult. The individual, identified as Dito, is an experienced skier," a local resident remarked.

The incident occurred on March 28 when a snowslide cascaded down the mountainside in Bakuriani.

The group, consisting of five individuals traversing the Bakuriani-Tabatskuri slope, faced the avalanche. Four members of the group escaped, while rescuers continue their efforts to locate the missing individual.
