Tbilisi City Hall announces traffic restrictions for Red Bull Soapbox Race

Traffic restrictions will be introduced around Europe Square and surrounding streets in Tbilisi from September 11 to 14 in connection with the international Red Bull Soapbox Race, the Tbilisi City Hall said.

During the first stage, from 8 p.m. on September 11 until 10 p.m. on September 12, traffic will be temporarily restricted on Wine Rise and Dutu Megreli Street. Two lanes on Metekhi Bridge toward Europe Square will also be closed, while one outer lane on Europe Square will be restricted up to the beginning of Noe Zhordania Embankment.

During the second stage, from 10 p.m. on September 12 until 3 a.m. on September 14, vehicle traffic will be fully restricted on Europe Square, Metekhi Bridge, Wine Rise, Dutu Megreli Street and the section of Noe Zhordania Embankment connecting to Europe Square.

Vehicles will be able to travel from Vakhtang Gorgasali Square toward Kote Apkhazi Street. On the right bank of the Mtkvari River, vehicles coming from Gorgasali Street will be able to continue either toward Zviad Gamsakhurdia Embankment or from Gorgasali Square toward Kote Apkhazi Street, with traffic from Tumanian Street also directed toward Gorgasali Street.

Some public transport routes normally passing through Europe Square will be diverted.

Municipal bus routes N102, N301, N310, N331 and N345, as well as minibuses N550 and N580, which normally travel from Gorgasali Street toward Baratashvili Bridge and Baratashvili Street via Metekhi Bridge, Europe Square and Noe Zhordania Embankment, will instead connect from Gorgasali Street to Kote Apkhazi Street and continue from Freedom Square toward Baratashvili Street before returning to their regular routes.

Bus N333, when travelling toward Queen Ketevan Avenue, will no longer enter Europe Square from Costa Khetagurov Street. It will instead travel toward Baratashvili Bridge, turn onto Baratashvili Street and return via the bridge to Baratashvili Rise before continuing along its regular route.
