Georgia’s Special Investigation Service (SIS) has arrested a 45-year-old man on charges of pedophilia and depraved conduct involving a 14-year-old girl.

In a statement released on Friday, the agency said the suspect used fake Facebook profiles to contact children under the age of 14, posing as a minor in order to initiate communication. He allegedly gained their trust before introducing sexual topics and pressuring them to undress and engage in video calls.

SIS said in February 2025, the suspect contacted a 14-year-old girl on Facebook and, through deception, coerced her into entering a bathroom and participating in video calls during which she was instructed to undress and perform intimate acts. During the calls, he was also alleged to have engaged in sexual activity himself. The agency said that the suspect exerted psychological pressure on the girl over a period of several months.

Following a complaint filed by the victim, investigators launched an immediate inquiry. A search of the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of a mobile phone and computer equipment. Authorities say they uncovered fake social media profiles and messages, along with pornographic and private photo and video materials.

The SIS said that the suspect had communicated with dozens of minors using false identities. Under Georgian law, the alleged crimes are punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
