Suspect arrested in Tbilisi over ₾350,000 fraud

Police in Tbilisi have arrested one man accused of fraudulently obtaining GEL 350,000 from a victim, Georgia’s Interior Ministry said on Friday.

The suspect allegedly offered the victim a joint business venture involving the purchase of a construction company, together with a plot of land and an approved project and permit for the construction of a hotel complex.

The suspect also allegedly promised to use his connections to help the victim acquire a plot of state-owned land.

The suspect subsequently obtained GEL 350,000 from the victim through deception, the ministry press office said. 

The crime carries a prison sentence of up to nine years.
