Foreign national arrested after major drug seizure in Adjara

Police in Georgia’s Adjara region have arrested a foreign national on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing a particularly large quantity of narcotics and facilitating their distribution.

According to the Interior Ministry, officers searched the suspect and a residence in Batumi, seizing a large quantity of drugs as evidence.

The haul included 50 packages of methadone allegedly prepared for sale. Police also confiscated materials believed to have been used for packaging narcotics.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260¹ of Georgia’s Criminal Code.

If convicted, the offences carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
