Man wanted over serious injury arrested in Georgia

A man wanted in connection with the intentional infliction of serious bodily injury has been arrested in Georgia’s Adjara region, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to investigators, the suspect injured a young man with a bladed weapon during an altercation in Khelvachauri municipality in July and fled the scene.

Police identified the suspect following operational and investigative measures and subsequently placed him on a wanted list, the ministry said.

The detainee has been remanded in a penitentiary facility.

The crime carries a prison sentence of up to seven years.
