Officers of the Adjara Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained a Ukrainian citizen wanted on an Interpol Red Notice, the Ministry announced on Saturday.
The body added, the 35-year-old, identified as A.K., was arrested in the Black Sea resort city of Batumi following operational and investigative measures.
The detainee had been wanted by law enforcement authorities in Germany and Poland on multiple charges, including leading an organised criminal group and illegally transporting migrants, the Ministry said.
The body noted A.K. crossed the Georgian border before the international search was officially announced.
Extradition procedures in accordance with the law are now underway.
