Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze has held talks with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Georgia, Anna Rich, on efforts to combat illegal migration and developments in the country's asylum system.

The meeting focused on reforms and progress made in recent years to strengthen measures against illegal migration.

The two sides also discussed legislative changes affecting the processing of asylum applications, as well as ongoing challenges in the field.

At the end of the meeting, Darakhvelidze thanked UNHCR for its long-standing contribution to strengthening the ministry's institutional capacity and expressed hope for continued successful cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Sopio Imerlishvili, head of the Interior Ministry's International Relations Department.
