UNM's Tstitlidze accuses former culture minister of flaunting luxury amid poverty

Anna Tsitlidze, one of the leaders of Georgia's opposition United National Movement (UNM), has accused former Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze of displaying a lavish lifestyle while “many Georgians struggle with poverty.”

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Tsitlidze claimed that Rukhadze was largely unknown to the public despite serving as culture minister and said she had become associated with luxury fashion rather than her work in office.

"How many citizens even knew Tinatin Rukhadze's name? I am sure very few did," Tsitlidze said.

She argued that while many Georgians face financial hardship and struggle to pay utility bills or provide for their children, the former minister projected an image of wealth by wearing expensive designer brands and clothing worth thousands of dollars and euros.

"She showed people who are struggling to survive from month to month that she lived a luxury lifestyle and wore expensive brands. That is how the so-called culture minister of hungry people will be remembered," Tsitlidze said.
