Tsitlidze rejected the government’s stance, accusing Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili of aligning the country with Moscow

Ana Tsitlidze, a member of the United National Movement, has accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of betraying the country’s pro-European aspirations and called for mass public resistance.

In her comments on Thursday, Tsitlidze claimed that the government had “signed on the complete annexation of Georgia,” and had no intention of fulfilling the European Union’s conditions for integration.

“No one should have the illusion that they will meet the EU’s demands,” Tsitlidze said, referring to the ruling party’s recent statements. “These people are traitors. They are on a mission to hand Georgia over to Russia, and they will follow it through to the end.”

Her comments follow recent remarks by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who suggested that if faced with a choice between peace and visa liberalization with the EU, the government would prioritize “peace and stability.”

Tsitlidze rejected the government’s stance, accusing Georgian Dream founder Bidzina Ivanishvili of aligning the country with Moscow and eroding Georgia’s chances of joining the EU.

“Georgian Dream will not fulfill any of the EU’s conditions,” she said. “This regime is deliberately depriving the country of the opportunity for European integration.”

The opposition MP called on the Georgian public to respond with mass protests aimed at what she described as the “overthrow of the regime.”
