United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed his condolences to Iran following the death of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry said Guterres conveyed his sympathy to the Iranian side during the call, which took place on Thursday afternoon, and offered condolences over Khamenei's passing.
The body added the conversation focused on the Secretary-General's message of condolence to the Iranian government and people following the death of the country's former Supreme Leader.
