Azerbaijani President Aliyev congratulates Georgia on Independence Day

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and the Georgian people on Georgia’s Independence Day.

In a congratulatory letter published on Tuesday, Aliyev said relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia were based on centuries of friendship, mutual respect and trust between the two neighbouring nations.

Aliyev said he highly valued the results of his state visit to Georgia last month and described his meetings with Kavelashvili as productive and conducted in an atmosphere of sincerity and mutual understanding.

The Azerbaijani president also said the active political dialogue between the two countries created favourable conditions for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.

Aliyev added that he was confident the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia would continue to strengthen through joint efforts, serving the interests of both countries and contributing to regional prosperity.

He wished Kavelashvili good health and success in his work, and extended wishes of peace and prosperity to the Georgian people.
