Georgian police have arrested a minor on suspicion of creating and distributing pornographic images depicting minors, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

Investigators alleged that the suspect downloaded photographs of various individuals, including minors, from publicly accessible social media profiles and used software to manipulate the images into material depicting minors in a pornographic manner.

The ministry said the altered images were then shared on a social media platform alongside offensive text.

Police identified and detained the suspect in Tbilisi following what the ministry described as a series of complex investigative measures.

If convicted, the suspect faces up to 15 years' imprisonment, according to the Interior Ministry.
