Georgian police have arrested two men on charges of raping a minor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Monday.

Officers from the Tbilisi Police Department’s Juvenile Affairs Division detained a man born in 1997 and another, previously convicted, suspect born in 2004.

Investigators alleged that the suspects lured a minor, identified as N.G., to a hostel in Tbilisi under false pretences. The ministry said both men are accused of using force to sexually assault the girl multiple times.

Police said the arrests were carried out following operational and investigative measures, and both individuals have been formally charged.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 137 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life in prison.
