One arrested in Tbilisi on suspicion of committing indecent act against minor

Police in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi have arrested a suspect accused of committing an indecent act against a minor, Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Thursday.

The Ministry said officers from the Tbilisi Police Department’s Main Division for Juvenile Affairs detained the individual following an investigation into the incident.

Investigators established that the alleged offence took place in a public park in the Dighomi district of Tbilisi, where the suspect is accused of carrying out an indecent act in relation to an underage girl.

The suspect was arrested following a series of operational measures and investigative actions conducted by law enforcement officers.

The crime is punishable by up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
