Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will travel to Moscow on 9 May to attend Russia’s annual Victory Day Parade, marking the Soviet Union’s triumph in the Second World War, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.

Speaking at a press briefing, Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said the visit reflects Armenia’s shared history in the wartime victory, emphasizing that “300,000 Armenians died for this victory.”

“This is also our victory,” Simonyan said. “Many Armenians fought in the allied armies. Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow on May 9 is not related to the European Union or any other issues,” he claimed.

The trip was confirmed following a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Russian state news agency TASS.
