Sadigov was arrested on 18 October

A Tbilisi court has sentenced Azerbaijani journalist Afgan Sadigov to 14 days of administrative detention after he was charged by the Ministry of Internal Affairs with blocking a public road during anti-Government protests last week.

The ruling was delivered by Judge Zviad Tsekvava on Thursday.

Immediately after the verdict was announced, Sadigov shouted: “To the end! [ruling Georgian Dream party founder Bidzina]Ivanishvili is a dictatorship!”

Sadigov was arrested on 18 October. His family and lawyers searched for him for several hours before authorities confirmed that he had been detained under administrative proceedings on the charge of artificially obstructing traffic.
