International politics expert Batu Kutelia has raised concerns about Georgia’s future, cautioning that the ruling party’s alleged alignment with Russian interests could lead the country into a prolonged loss of sovereignty.

Speaking on Georgia’s current political climate, Kutelia claimed that Georgian Dream’s actions to “maintain and usurp power” have aligned with “the enemy of our country – Russia.”

He warned that this trajectory might turn Georgia into a “de-sovereign Russian periphery” for an extended period. According to Kutelia, the situation presents a “very grim picture” for Georgia’s independence and national security.

Kutelia further described the ongoing situation as an unprecedented political crisis. “We have now moved into a process that our country has never been in before,” he said, highlighting the “critical need” for a unified opposition to address the crisis and counter the alleged influence of Russia on Georgia’s ruling party. “Our task is to save the country from the abyss where the Georgian Dream has led us,” he added.
