Police said the alleged weapon, a knife, has been seized as evidence

Officers from the Adjara Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have arrested a Turkish citizen on suspicion of attempted murder.

The detainee, identified as D.Sh., born in 1998, is accused of attacking another Turkish national, A.F., born in 1981, in the coastal city of Batumi.

The suspect used a knife to wound the victim, who was subsequently taken to hospital where he received medical treatment, the MIA press office said on Tuesday. 

Police said the alleged weapon, a knife, has been seized as evidence.

The suspect has been formally charged, and an investigation is under way under Articles 19 and 108 of the Criminal Code, which relate to attempted murder and carry a potential sentence of up to 15 years’ imprisonment.
