Turkish citizen wanted by Interpol red notice detained in Georgia’s Batumi

A Turkish citizen wanted by Interpol under a red notice has been detained in Georgia’s Black Sea resort city of Batumi, the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Saturday.
The body added officers from the Central Criminal Police Department’s Adjara Main Division and the Migration Department arrested A.Ch., born in 1988, who was being sought by Turkey for multiple offences.
The suspect was wanted on charges including threats, insult, and the illegal acquisition and possession of a small quantity of ammunition.
Law enforcement officers detained A.Ch. in Batumi following investigative measures. Extradition procedures provided for by law are currently under way.
