Georgian law enforcement authorities have arrested two Turkish citizens wanted internationally under Interpol Red Notices, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Saturday.

The Ministry added the two individuals were being sought by Turkish authorities for various criminal offences and had been placed on Interpol's Red Notice list at the request of Turkey.

Law enforcement officers located and arrested the suspects in Georgia’s Black Sea resort city of Batumi during separate investigative operations conducted at different times, the Ministry said.

The Ministry did not disclose the identities of the detainees or provide details regarding the specific charges for which they are wanted.

Extradition procedures are currently under way in accordance with Georgian law, authorities added.
