Beka Liluashvili, a former member of the opposition party For Georgia, has announced that he is leaving public politics and plans to continue his career in the private sector.
In a statement posted on social media on Monday, Liluashvili, a former ally of ex-PM and For Georgia founder Giorgi Gakharia, said he was “publicly closing an important chapter” of his life after spending many years in public and political service. He described the decision as marking the beginning of a new professional phase.
Liluashvili said he was grateful for the experience, responsibility and trust he had received while working in Georgia’s public and political spheres, and thanked those who had supported him during that time. He added that the years spent in politics had taught him more than he had expected - about the country, its people and himself.
According to the statement, his future professional focus will be on the private sector, particularly in technology, digital transformation, finance and economics. He said he believed long-term and sustainable change could also be achieved through building strong companies and supporting sectors that drive economic development.
Liluashvili also stressed that his move did not represent a withdrawal from public interest, saying that defending the interests of the state and society would remain a core value of his work.
He concluded by thanking colleagues and supporters and describing the move as the start of a new stage in his life.
