Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Saturday expressed hope that voter turnout would be high in today’s local elections and that citizens will make the “right choice.”

“Today is another important day in our country’s history. Free elections, which have consistently taken place in recent years in Georgia, are once again being held. Our party, Georgian Dream, has given society the opportunity to make a free choice, just as we have ensured free speech, free business, and free living over the past years,” Ivanishvili said after casting his ballot.

He said the greatest achievement of recent years was the ability of society to think critically and make objective judgments.

“Our people have learned to distinguish black from white, to analyse objectively, and to make the right choice. I hope today society will be active, go to the ballot boxes, and make the right decision,” Ivanishvili added.
