Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder and honorary chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his delegation at the Business Centre in the capital city of Tbilisi.

The party’s press office said Ivanishvili thanked Aliyev for his visit and said relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan were at a “high level”, bringing mutual benefits to both countries.

He highlighted the importance of close economic ties, including the potential of transit corridors and joint transport and energy projects. Particular attention was given to the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, which plays a key role in regional connectivity.

Ivanishvili also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support for stability in the South Caucasus, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and economic development amid ongoing security challenges.

Aliyev thanked his host for the reception, describing Georgia as an attractive and stable destination for investment. He also emphasised the significance of bilateral projects and energy cooperation, as well as Georgia’s role in facilitating the export of Azerbaijani natural resources.

The visit of the Azerbaijani President to Georgia has now concluded, the statement said.
