US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, where discussions touched upon various global issues, including the situation in Georgia.

Blinken expressed deep concern over what he described as democratic backsliding in Georgia, emphasizing that it contradicts the aspirations of the majority of the Georgian people.

“We discussed Georgia as well,” Blinken said. “There is democratic backsliding in Georgia, which is deeply concerning—not only democratic backsliding but also a retreat from the aspirations of the overwhelming majority of the Georgian people, who seek to build a future increasingly aligned with Europe.”
