The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the recent violence against peaceful protesters in Georgia, expressing strong solidarity with the Georgian people’s democratic aspirations.

In a statement released today, the Czech MFA underscored its support for Georgia’s civil society and independent media by announcing €230,000 in emergency funding.

“Czechia deplores the recent violence against peaceful protesters in Georgia and stands in solidarity with the Georgian people’s democratic aspirations. Today, we’re backing our commitment with €230,000 in emergency funding for Georgian civil society and independent media,” the Ministry stated.

The move comes amid growing concerns in Europe over the Georgian government’s handling of peaceful demonstrations and increasing reports of repression against civil society and media freedom.
