Gori court is expected to send five Georgian citizens, charged with alleged murder of British tourist in eastern Georgia, to pretrial detention earlier today.

The suspects were detained in Gori  earlier this week and police say that they are behind the murder of 28-year-old British citizen Thomas Kennedy.

Law enforcers state that the detainees were drinking alcohol in an underground passage in the city of Gori on October 7 and later Kennedy joined them and all together went to a bar to continue drinking.

According to investigation, a verbal dispute took place between the five and the British citizen which led to physical abuse.

The suspects allegedly attacked Kennedy and later threw him into Mtkvari river.

His body was found the next day.

The crime is punishable by 13 to 17 years in prison.
