Georgia has reported 2,354 daily cases of coronavirus earlier today which is a slight decrease compared to figures in the past several days.

However, coronavirus daily deaths are still high and stand at 60 today.

5,200 patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

Almost 60,000 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.

The country has had 517,098 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

453,488 of the 517,098 patients have recovered, while 6,831 individuals have died from the virus.

979,813 individuals have received their one dose of Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sonovac or Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine in the country since March 2021, while 294,365 of the 979,813 people have been fully vaccinated.

The figures mean that 10 percent of the country’s adult population are fully vaccinated.

More than 7,000 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today.

As hospitals and clinics were unable to receive more Covid-19 patients, a field hospital has been opened in Didi Digomi district of Tbilisi, where 87 patients are placed now.

Coronavirus cases began to surge in Georgia starting July, hitting 4,000-5,000 daily infections.

The Georgian government was forced to reimpose restrictions, including the stopping of the public transport until September 4, making the facemasks mandatory outdoors and the prohibition of large events.
