The voting process in Georgia’s local government elections is proceeding successfully, international observer Luis Jesús Uribe-Etxebarria Apalategui, a member of the Spanish Senate, told reporters on Saturday.

“The polling station has opened, the voting process is running smoothly, and people are exercising their right to come and cast their ballots”, he said.

The observer expressed hope that the process would continue in the same manner.

“I very much hope this process will remain democratic. Georgia continues to engage in elections in a free, safe, competitive, and transparent way, in line with international standards”, he noted.
