“This is a significant and responsible step in my life, giving me the opportunity to work even more tirelessly and honestly for my city and its residents,” said Dato Kodua after being nominated by the ruling Georgian Dream party as its candidate for mayor of Zugdidi.
Kodua outlined plans to improve infrastructure, boost tourism, promote youth participation in local governance, and develop sports and cultural initiatives. He said he aims to make Zugdidi a regional hub, citing the economic potential of the Anaklia port project and the municipality’s coastal area as a festival destination.
"Zugdidi is truly a center of European culture and civilization in Georgia, which needs to be further presented and popularized," he said.
He pledged to form a competent team to carry out targeted development projects and involve citizens in decision-making processes. “Peace for Georgia, more good for Zugdidi,” Kodua wrote, thanking Georgian Dream leaders, including honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, for their trust.
Kodua, a former MP and Zugdidi delegate in the XI Parliament, was officially introduced as the party’s mayoral candidate by Kobakhidze during a briefing on August 11.
