Newly elected Zugdidi Mayor Davit Kodua on Friday said his administration will focus on rapid response to local needs, full transparency in spending, and stronger community engagement, as he begins work with City Hall leadership on upcoming priorities.

Kodua met with Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti State Representative Davit Verava and municipal department heads to discuss planned projects and internal reforms. He emphasized changes across various sectors aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring citizens play an active role in decision-making.

“Our goal over the next four years is to ensure highly effective local governance with strong public participation. Every project and every lari spent will be transparent - and our citizens will be directly involved,” Kodua said.

He added that the City Hall must operate with greater flexibility and accountability to meet community expectations and challenges promptly.

Verava expressed confidence in Kodua’s experience and professionalism, saying central government support will help achieve major improvements for Zugdidi and its residents.
