Coronavirus deaths hit record high 58 daily cases in Georgia

Georgia has reported 58 coronavirus deaths today which is a record high figure since the country confirmed its first case of Covid-19 at the end of February 2020. 

 

Daily coronavirus infections stand at 4,921 cases, while 4,471 have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours. 

 

The 58 new deaths have brought the Covid death toll in Georgia to 6,590. 

 

57,704 individuals remain infected with the virus in the country as of today. 

 

49,469 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 29,152 of the 49,469 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 29,152 tests were PCR tests. 

 

 Most of the new cases were reported in the capital Tbilisi - 1,948, coastal Adjara region - 739 and Imereti region - 626 cases. 

 

Georgia has had 501,297 cases of coronavirus since February 2020. 436,977 of the 501,297 individuals have recovered from the virus. 

 

Coronavirus cases began to surge again in Georgia starting July and the government was forced to  impose three-week restrictions: stopped public transport between August 14 and September 4, prohibited large events and made the wearing of face masks both indoors and outdoors mandatory. 

 

883,570 individuals have been vaccinated in the country since March 2021. 258, 303 of the 883,570 have been fully inoculated.
