Flights from Kutaisi Airport to Kazakhstan still suspended

No flights have taken place from Kutaisi International Airport to Kazakhstan so far due to the unrest in the country sparked by the hike in fuel prices. Eight Georgian citizens, who were in Kazakhstan amid the anti-government protests, have requested the help from the Georgian government.

Four of the eight Georgian citizens are members of the choreographic ensemble Ilori, three other citizens were stuck at the Aktau international airport, while one remaining citizen has been taken to the city of Atyrau.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry said yesterday that all Georgian citizens in Kazakhstan have been transferred to a safe place and that their health and life is not at risk. Russian troops, which have been invited by the Kazakh government to crack down the protests, remain in the country.
