Russian-controlled occupation forces abduct two Georgian citizens

The Russian-controlled occupation forces have abducted two Georgian citizens from the village of Koshka, central Gori municipality, the Georgian state security service confirmed on Tuesday.

The individuals have been reportedly arrested for “illegally crossing the border”, which is a common issue near the both occupied regions of Tskhinvali and Abkhazia.

The agency said it had activated the hotline with the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia and informed the co-chairs of Geneva International Discussions over the “illegal fact” to ensure a “timely release” of the people.

The GSSS stressed Russia carried responsibility for all illegal actions in and near the occupied regions, as a country exercising an effective control on the territories.
