Georgian PM, president offer condolences over deadly quake hitting Turkey, Syria

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and president Salome Zourabichvili on Monday sent their condolences over the devastating quake that hit Turkey and Syria earlier today, leaving more than 560 killed in both states. 

“My deepest sympathies to the people and government of Türkiye over the loss of lives following the devastating earthquake in Kahramanmaras. I wish a speedy recovery to all the injured. We stand with the people of Türkiye and are ready to provide any assistance needed”, Garibashvili tweeted. 


Zourabichvili tweeted Georgia “stands with the people of Türkiye in this difficult time. I send my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish strength to the first responders on the scene”. 

Hundreds of people are still missing in the debris.
