Georgian citizen illegally arrested by occupation forces, released

Dimitri Mamagulashvili, a resident of the  Dvani village in central Kareli municipality, who was illegally arrested by the Russian- controlled de facto Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) authorities on April 17, was released on Friday. 

 

The de facto security committee of the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region noted on April 20, the Znauri district court found Mamagulashvili guilty of "violating the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, and after being fined administratively, he was expelled” from the region. 

 

The State Security Service of Georgia also confirmed the release of Mamagulashvili.

 

Mamagulashvili was celebrating Easter with fellow villagers when he went  missing, with locals claiming he was abducted from the Tbilisi-controlled territory. 

 

Currently five citizens of Georgia remain in Tskhinvali prison.
