Lavrov expects Tbilisi to get involved in 3+3 format “soon”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed this week Tbilisi may get involved in the 3+3 format, a platform initiated by Turkey in 2020 that involves the cooperation of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Iran for stability and peace in the region.

"The current authorities of Tbilisi, as they have confirmed many times, take all their actions primarily based on fundamental national interests. This gives reason to assume that the perfect format of 3+3 may be implemented in the near future”, Lavrov said.

He further noted Moscow “understood the reason” why Tbilisi had so far refrained from joining this "six" and “we appreciate that the leadership of Georgia derives from the possibility of doing so in the future”.
