No country supports Georgia as strongly as US - Ambassador

United States Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan, on Wednesday emphasized the “unwavering support” of the US for Georgia during her address at the session of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Georgian Parliament.

"As ambassador, it is my responsibility to strengthen the bond and partnership between our two nations. The US stands firmly by Georgia, particularly evident during times of adversity such as the tragic day of annexation by the Red Army. Over the past 32 years, we have provided over six billion dollars in aid to Georgia, underscoring the depth of our partnership and its mutual benefits," Dunnigan said.

She highlighted the “tangible impact” of this partnership on the lives of Georgians across various sectors, including military, education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. "Through initiatives such as training Georgian border guards and facilitating military education in the US for 1,600 individuals, we have contributed to enhancing Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, we have equipped Georgia with NATO-compatible equipment, reinforcing our commitment to its security," she added.

Expressing a commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, Dunnigan referenced President Joe Biden's national security strategy, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with partners and allies. "President Biden's vision aligns with our mission to expand and deepen our cooperation with Georgia. Our shared values of freedom and the desire to create a better world for future generations form the cornerstone of our relationship," Dunnigan affirmed.

The diplomat reiterated her dedication to advancing the partnership between the US and Georgia. "It is my duty as ambassador to foster greater understanding and collaboration between our nations, building upon the strong foundation of trust and mutual respect that exists between us," she concluded.
