Russian Red Wings expands flight routes to Georgia’s Batumi from three more cities

The Russian airline Red Wings is set to enhance air travel between Russia and Georgia by introducing flights from three additional Russian cities to Georgia’s coastal city of Batumi.

Following the announcement by Azimut Airlines of a new Moscow-Kutaisi-Moscow route, Red Wings has revealed plans to launch flights connecting Batumi with Sochi, Kazan, and Ufa.

Starting June 22, 2024, ticket sales for the Sochi-Batumi-Sochi route will be available, with flights scheduled twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays until October 26, 2024. The Kazan-Batumi-Kazan route will commence on July 7, 2024, with weekly flights on Sundays running until October 13, 2024. Additionally, flights between Ufa and Batumi will operate on Thursdays from July 4 to August 29, 2024.

Alexander Krutov, deputy director of Red Wings, highlighted the increased demand for travel to Georgian destinations. "After the resumption of flights between Russia and Georgia, it became clear that Georgian resorts remain popular among Russian tourists. According to TAV-Georgia, passenger traffic at Batumi Airport from January to April 2024 rose by 34% compared to the same period last year. We are confident that there will be high seasonal demand for these new flights from three Russian cities to Batumi," he said.

With the addition of these new routes, Red Wings will offer direct flights to Batumi from seven Russian cities.

In June alone, more than 400 flights between Russia and Georgia were scheduled. The Ministry of Economy of Georgia reported that for the active summer season, a total of 13,600 flights are planned, including 2,480 flights (18% of the total) to Europe and 1,761 flights (13%) to Russia.
