Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has commented on the crash of a Turkish military aircraft, expressing sorrow over the incident and noting that coordinated efforts were ongoing to locate the wreckage in cooperation with the relevant authorities of neighbouring countries.
“We have learned with deep sorrow that our C-130 aircraft, which was flying from Azerbaijan to our homeland, crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border. We continue coordinated efforts to locate the wreckage of the aircraft together with the authorities of the respective countries. I hope this tragic incident will result in minimal loss”, he said.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said the Turkish military plane went down earlier today in the Sighnaghi municipality of the country’s eastern Kakheti region, about five kilometers from the Georgian border. The aircraft was en route from Azerbaijan to Turkey.
