133rd Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting in Ergneti discusses security, human rights issues

The 133rd meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) has been held in the village of Ergneti in the Gori municipality of Georgia with participants discussing security incidents and developments along the occupation line.

Georgia’s State Security Service on Thursday said the meeting reviewed all significant incidents reported since the previous session in the occupied region and areas adjacent to the occupation line.

Representatives of Georgia’s central government again raised the issue of bringing to justice those responsible for the killing of Georgian citizen Tamaz Ginturi by Russian occupying forces.

The Georgian side also condemned the continuation of illegal “borderisation” activities and discussed restrictions on freedom of movement and conditions at crossing points.

The meeting also addressed a growing trend of violations of fundamental rights in the occupied Tskhinvali region, with representatives calling for the immediate release of all individuals held in illegal detention.

The next IPRM meeting is scheduled to take place on 8 September 2026.
