Estonia cited concerns over democratic backsliding in the country.

Estonia has announced the termination of its visa-free regime for Georgian citizens holding diplomatic and service passports, citing concerns over democratic backsliding in the country.

The decision, confirmed by Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, is seen as a response to what he described as the "repression of civil society, participants of pro-European rallies, and the media by the Georgian Dream government."

The Georgian Dream Government in late 2024 announced a delay in the country’s EU integration until 2028, sparking continued protests in capital Tbilisi and regions.
