The EU recalled its origins in the 1950s as a project designed to heal a war-torn continent

The European Union representation in Georgia on Tuesday highlighted that Tbilisi’s integration into the bloc represented a move toward a safer and more secure future, citing the EU’s historic record of over 70 years without internal wars.

In a social media post, the EU recalled its origins in the 1950s as a project designed to heal a war-torn continent.

“The EU was born to heal a continent. No wars have occurred within the EU in over 70 years - a historic achievement in long-lasting peace. Georgia’s path to the EU is a path to a safer and more secure future,” the statement said.
