The EU Representation extended condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church, the clergy, and the people of Georgia

The European Union Representation in Georgia has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia.

In a statement on Wednesday, the EU Representation extended condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church, the clergy, and the people of Georgia. 

“We express our deep sorrow over the passing of Georgia’s spiritual father. His Holiness played a special role in preserving national identity and faith, remaining a symbol of unity for believers,” the statement said.

Ilia II died on March 17 at the age of 93.
